Overview
Siwa sits outside the Pyramids circuit, and that is the point. The road comes from Cairo or from Marsa Matruh, then three nights in a quiet lodge. The Mountain of the Dead, the Temple of the Oracle, Cleopatra’s Spring, and the salt lakes at sunset are on the visit. A jeep day to the Great Sand Sea can be added for a guest who wants to leave the oasis. The pace is slow, and the food is dates, olives, and oasis cooking.
